Nearly 2 years later...
As you can see by the previous post, the replacement of the green has been nearly 2 years in pleading, planning and organising. This morning it all began.
The destroyed green that has been on display to the plublic from Alexander Avenue all this time was removed in its entireity today. The sections have been rolled up and delivered to the cricket club where they will find a new life as netball court covering and cricket practice net surface.
Check out the work so far. All this happened in one day.

Today marks another sad day in the illustrious history of the Upwey-Tecoma Bowls Club.
After re-opening the newly laid synthetic green in November 2004, another once in a century storm deposited tonnes of water, dirt, mud and debris in the same place today. See below.
The green has been destroyed again as can be seen above. The clubhouse was not spared either. The local CFA crew assisted club members in mopping up inside and removing the carpet and underlay damaged during the storm. The verandah is temporarily housing a great deal of mud.
The bank closest to the clubhouse has vast amounts of mud and silt deposited on the lawn currently.
The earthworks behind the club (on Chosen Ave) have begun. They were not completed in time to be of use during this storm and it makes you wonder whether the upgraded drains would have coped with this volume of water.
While the drains would take a lot of the water away, would this concrete barrier, when complete, have provided the protection we so dearly require?
Where to from here?
